2013 Sonoma Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
A unique cool climate wine that reflects a classic era of California Cabernet.
The dragon forces have aligned. We dialed back the whole cluster on the 2013 and it gave us a more precise wine. Rich but gentle, plush and powerful at only 13.7% alcohol, with acidity that will keep it fresh for extended aging. This wine reflects a classic period in California Cabernet. It will certainly reward patience, but is also explosively aromatic and exuberant right now.
Winemaking: The 3 ton lot was partially de-stemmed into an open top fermenter where the grapes were gently foot tread and punched down 1-2 times a day during a native yeast fermentation. The wine was aged for 2 years in French oak barrels including 1 new barrel.
