2014 Heron Lake Chardonnay
A gentle press brings purity and elegance to the power and charm of Heron Lake. Acidity, surprising depth and a refined quartz minerality. Nervy, but in a flirtatious way. Chamomile, salt & honey, peach skin, pollen, a dollop of cream and powdered quartz.

Despite its location just a few miles from downtown Napa, few vineyards are as isolated and unique as Heron Lake. Perched on a rocky outpost in the little known AVA of Wild Horse Valley, Heron Lake catches the breeze off San Pablo Bay as it rises up into the Vaca Mountains. The vines are planted in extremely shallow volcanic soils, where formations of quartz, granite and feldspar frequently rise to within just a few inches of the surface. This intersection of coastal climate and rugged soil profile creates wines that express a combination of freshness, acidity, depth and texture, along with a distinct quartz minerality.
